Preparing High School Seniors for Professional World

Halifax County Schools Prepares High School Seniors for Professional World

Seniors at Southeast Collegiate Prep Academy, Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy and Halifax County Early College had an exciting and educational experience as they participated in a hands-on workshop led by Superintendent Dr. Cunningham, focused on mastering the art of interviewing.

Dr. Cunningham shared valuable insights drawn from years of professional experience, guiding students through the essentials of successful interviewing. From making a strong first impression, to confidently answering challenging questions, to demonstrating professionalism throughout the process, students received a comprehensive lesson in what it takes to stand out in any interview setting.

“These workshops were about more than just interview skills—it was about helping our students find their voice and own their potential,” said Dr. Cunningham. “When our seniors walk into a room, they should know they belong there. Confidence, preparation, and authenticity can change the trajectory of a conversation—and ultimately, a life. We are committed to ensuring they have every tool they need to succeed in whatever they choose to pursue next.”

The learning didn’t stop there—students had the opportunity to apply their newfound skills through peer-to-peer practice and mock interviews conducted by representatives from local organizations. These real-world simulations provided immediate feedback and reinforced the confidence and preparedness needed as students begin to pursue jobs, internships, and college opportunities.
