My name is Diana Powell, I have been a first grade teacher at Pittman Elementary for 15 years.  My Elementary Education degree was awarded from Concord University in Athens, West Virginia and Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.  I have a husband, James, and a daughter, Harley. We love spending time together as a family.  My hobbies include reading, scrap booking, and camping with my family.  I love seeing the light go on in my students'faces when they finally realize something we have been discussing!! 

As the 2024/25 school year ends, I want to say how much I have appreciated working with new teachers, new students, and my old friends. For me, this has been a year of reflection and growth. I have grown in areas that need to be improved, and I have made better, reflective decisions about these areas.  I believe as a teacher we are continuously learning and growing just like the students we teach, and I think this will make me a better teacher.  I look forward to a peaceful and restful summer with my family and friends.  I will be ready to see my new students when the new school year begins.  Have a Great Summer!!
