My name is Diana Powell, I have been a first grade teacher at Pittman Elementary for 15 years.  My Elementary Education degree was awarded from Concord University in Athens, West Virginia and Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.  I have a husband, James, and a daughter, Harley. We love spending time together as a family.  My hobbies include reading, scrap booking, and camping with my family.  I love seeing the light go on in my students'faces when they finally realize something we have been discussing!! 

As the new year of 2024/25 begins, I want to express how excited I am to welcome your child to first grade.  We are going to have a great year learning how to read!!  So, Eagles, let's make this the year that we soar!!  Parents, I am available to help you at any time and willing to answer all your questions when you have them.  Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to teach your child.
