My name is Sandra Shoulars. I am a proud product of Halifax County Schools. I attended Aurelian Springs Elementary School, William R. Davie Middle School, and Northwest High School. I graduated from high school in 1999 and advanced my education by attending Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) where I majored in Elementary Education with a concentration in Psychology.
While furthering my education at ECSU, I had the opportunity to conduct my student teaching in a fourth grade class at Pittman Elementary School. In the year 2003, I graduated from college and began my teaching career at Pittman Elementary School as a second grade teacher. This is my twenty-first year as a teacher at Pittman Elementary Leadership Academy and I currently teach third grade!
I received Teacher of the Year at my school for the 2007-2008 school year, the 2012-2013 school year, and the 2016-2017 school year. I was also 2nd Runner Up for Halifax County Schools for the 2016-2017 school year. I received National Board Certification on November 17, 2012 and was featured in the Daily Herald Profile Magazine. I received Maintenance of Certification on December 11, 2021.
I enjoy educating young people and helping them become the best 21st century learners they can be!
