Important Cell Phone Information

  • Dear Parents/Guardians,

During school hours, mobile devices can be a source of distraction. Our priority is to assist your child in achieving academic success. To accomplish this objective, we require your cooperation. Halifax County Board Policy 4318 states students are permitted to possess such devices on school property so long as the devices are not activated, used, displayed, or visible during the instructional day or as otherwise directed by school rules or school personnel. School employees may immediately confiscate any wireless communication device in use, displayed, or visible in violation of this policy.

At Enfield Middle S.T.E.A.M. Academy, students can bring their electronic devices to school. However, as per school policy, we will collect these devices upon arrival and return them to the students at the end of the day.

Your child has the option of leaving their device at home. We will contact you when we require communication regarding your child. In case of an emergency and you need to speak with your child, contact the school by dialing (252) 445-5455. Any student refusing to turn in their device will face the following consequences:

    • 1st offense - call parent, and parent has to get the phone
    • 2nd offense - call parent, the parent has to get the phone, and the phone stays home
    • 3rd offense - Out of School Suspension due to non-compliance, and the phone stays home

Let us collaborate and focus on directing students' attention toward learning during school hours while reducing possible interruptions. If you have any questions or concerns regarding cell phone policies, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
