    Academic Opportunity Guide:

    This course is a performance-based continuation of spanish 1 whereby students are engaged in the three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational. Students are expected to attain Novice High- intermediate low levels of aural-oral skills, listening and reading comprehension, formation of speech patterns, and writing via interaction with authentic texts and materials.

     

    Course Goals:

    • To learn how to communicate with people who speak Spanish, either by speaking and listening or by reading and writing:

    ● Become more proficient communicators of the Spanish language

    ● Build confidence in your interpersonal skills

    ● Grow more aware of diverse cultures, the diverse Spanish-speaking world, and how different communities are both similar and different to our own.

    ● Discover the fun of speaking Spanish while building a basic vocabulary that can be used at work, with friends or during traveling.

     

    Materials Required: 

    • Lápiz  / Pencil 

    • Cuaderno / Notebook 

    • Colores o Marcadores / Colors or Markers 

    • Computadora portatil /Laptop, Chromebooks

     Expectations. Class Rules: 

    • Be respectful to your peers,  teacher, staff, school property and yourself. 

    • Participate actively and appropriately in class. 

    •  Be prepared for class with all required materials (binder, composition notebook, pencil, textbook,laptop,  etc.) 

    • Be prepared for class, review and memorize your class notes.

    •  Sit in your assigned seat and remain seated until the bell rings for dismissal. 

    • Raise your hand and be recognized before speaking and/or leaving your desk. 

    • Eating or drinking are not allowed in this class.

    • PLACE YOUR CELL PHONE IN YOUR BACKPACK/POCKET EVERY DAY WHEN ENTERING THIS CLASS. CELL PHONES WILL  BE CONFISCATED IMMEDIATELY AND TAKEN TO THE MAIN OFFICE IF TEACHER SEES YOU OUT OF TASK. A REFERRAL WILL BE WRITTEN IF THE STUDENT REFUSES TO TURN IN THE CELL PHONE.

    • Come to class dressed according to the school dress code.

    • Stay in the target language at all times. 

    • Have your ID visible at all times.

    • Follow school tardy policies.

    • The bell doesn't dismiss you. The teacher will do it.

    •  It is your responsibility to make-up any assignments or tests in a timely manner when you return from an absence. Follow this procedure: 

      1. Join the activity in progress. If you do not know what to do, raise your hand and wait until the teacher assists you.

      2. Make-up a test or a quiz or classwork, you must make arrangements with the teacher during the first or last 5 minutes of class. 

     

     

    Consequences:

     

    A student who causes repeated disruptions and prevents others from learning in the class will be warned verbally. If the behavior continues, parents will be notified via email or phone call. After these steps are taken, the students will be referred to an administrator for discipline. Major class disruptions will result in immediate removal from the class and be referred to the appropriate administrator.

    Unit 1 ( 6 weeks) Verbs: to be, to have, to like, articles, gender, number. Adjectives.

     

    Unit 2 ( 3 weeks) Verbs: to be, to have, to go. Adjectives.
