Halifax County Schools Celebrates Eastman School Progress with Topping Out Ceremony

Halifax County Schools celebrated a significant milestone in the new Eastman school’s development with a ceremonial "topping-out," marking the completion of the building’s structural framework.

Before being lifted in the air, attendees had the opportunity to sign the final beam. The signing of the beam by students, staff, and community members was a powerful symbol of the collective investment in the future of education in Halifax County Schools. Each signature represents the shared hopes, dreams, and aspirations of those who have helped bring this project to life.

“Today marks an incredibly special moment in the journey of the new Eastman school. It’s a symbol of the dedication, passion, and commitment that has driven us to this point, and a reflection of the bright future that lies ahead for the students who will learn and grow within these walls. We are excited to see this vision come to life.” said Superintendent, Dr. Eric Cunningham.

This special event marks the culmination of years of planning, hard work, and dedication from the entire team, and it signifies an exciting new chapter in Halifax County Schools journey toward providing an exceptional learning environment for future generations.

To further honor the community’s role in this historic project, Halifax County Schools is offering Legacy Bricks at the cost of $50. This is a unique opportunity for individuals, families, and organizations to leave their mark on the history of the new school. Each brick will feature a personalized engraving of a name, message, or commemorative inscription —up to 17 characters.
